She is spot on with her observations of Western society, seeking to control it's members, keeping them separate from real happiness. A society that continues to evolve in a way that is making human-beings unhappy, in order to create a hunger for consumption, a false love for possessions, and fear while on earth and in death. Juls needed to break away from that society physically and with time mentally to find TRUE LOVE. To learn that we are love...We are just as beautiful as everything we have ever been in love with. Her "Mid-life awakening" as she refers to it (rather than a mid-life crisis), will awaken part of you, no matter your age, gender, background, religion, etc. Juls reveals all, and in doing so will connect with you, in a way that you love and accept her, and are reminded to love and accept yourself. You know you cannot judge her story as it parallels parts of you own story. That being the case, this is a perfect book to couple with journaling of your own unique journey and insights. In that, this book is a kind of therapy...It is an enjoyable read, but it is also a beautiful experience to read it. Rarely do I feel that way with a book, but when I do it is life changing. Being a Frog, this book was a revelation of who I have been and who I am working towards. The early chapters were a bit difficult for me to get through as it was the broken Juls speaking. We can all relate to the fear of rejection or being alone. Even though she was formally trained as a therapist, you just want to shake up the early Juls and make her see the beauty she has inside. She has an interesting perspective on the Controligion that forms us into controlled happy consumers. As the book progressed it was refreshing to see her grow and learn to find the love within herself. I am not the yogi. I do not formally meditate. Perhaps someday I will look into those activities. But I am taking away from this book a new perspective on what is really important in life. This is a book that will help you follow your dreams and grow to love your inner self.
With an open mind and an open heart, anything is possible and this book proves that and much more as a woman faces her biggest fears and shares with the world her journey of change and finding love within. This is an extraordinary book. I don't think it matters who you are or what you are going through, you will form a connection with these words. One of the beautiful things about this book is that, even though it is a story of one person's journey, there are very strong Universal messages to be discovered and these messages apply to everyone's life in anyway that you may need them to. When I was reading it, I may have taken a message and applied it to one part of my life, while another reader may have read the exact same words and taken something completely different from it that they needed to help them. Reading this book made me feel loved and taught me to love more freely. If you ask me, that is a lot of pressure to put on a book, but I don't doubt that it will suffice. I have never, until this point, read a book that changed something deep within me or maybe just brought out a part of me that I was afraid to show before. As I read through some of the other reviews, I saw that I was not alone in having this book speak to me in the way that it did. I think on a whole new level after reading this book, it is a very freeing way to think and it is a part of me now. I read with a highlighter in hand and anytime I need some inspiration, I go back and read the highlighted messages. I would highly recommend this book to anybody who wants to be taken on a journey of learning to love oneself and the world around you, who is stuck in a life they are not happy with, who is on top of the world and couldn't be happier, or who needs some inspiration. To somebody who needs a friend or to the person who wants to escape from their daily routine and be thrown into a world where they wish to not be judged and only love exists, read this book. I really can't think of a person on this Earth who this book is not for. Please don't let yourself miss out on this treasure. I found myself writing notes and highlighting as I read; I highly suggest that you buy the hard copy, doing so will only improve your reading experience and make you feel closer to this beautiful author and her worlds.

Let me clarify I have NO reservations about recommending this book... Any hesitation you have about buying this book, means you should just buy this book!! Sometimes we resist what we need. The Year of the Frog follows a journey of listening to others, and stifling self, to finding her truth, her voice and her passion. She is open and honest about the bumps along the way, honest in a manor that allows you to be more accepting and loving of yourself. By the end of the book your soul is singing with the truths she shares, you will want a physical copy of the book so you can continue to flip through and be re-encouraged by her touching truths. (in addition to your kindle version) This is not a read and forget about it book, you will keep coming back to this book ) Juls will have you contemplating where your paradise lies and what has influenced your life, thoughts and current state of being. Get ready to reevaluate everything, the ride is well worth it, paradise awaits )
